How to Get Started in 6 easy steps

Have you ever really wanted to change something about or around you and thought maybe tomorrow i'll start, or on Monday we start, or at this point i will just wait until Monday of next month to start!

If that's you don't worry... Lot's of people have a hard time getting started with something new.

It could be because of overwhelm, or procrastination, or something else entirely. But one thing you need to remember is you are in charge of how you feel and what you do.

So to help you "Get Started Successfully" I've made a list of 6 steps for getting started!

1. Revise your expectations

Weight loss and fitness take time. If your expectation is that things need to happen immediately you will almost always fail. Revise your expectation about the time it takes and remind yourself that Rome wasn't built in a day.

2. Figure out why you want to do the thing

Really dig deep as to why you want to do the thing. Connecting deep down to your real WHY is what will help you on a bad day, when its raining, when your in a bad mood, or when your kids or spouse are having a melt down.

3. Carve out time to actually participate in something that will move you forward

Everyone has a planner these days, block out some time to participate in things that are going to move you forward. Sometimes we believe that we need to work out for 3 hours or meal plan for a whole week. We are just getting started remember, so just plan out 15 minutes or so and do something useful towards your goal. Like go for a walk or prepare your snacks for tomorrow at work!

4. Take imperfect action

JUST DO SOMETHING!! Just get started.

We procrastinate so much and second guess ourselves. Just start and do the best you can with what you have at the moment. When you have more info, or time, or money then choose the next best step up.

5. Expect resistance from yourself and from others

People around you are going to resist your new healthy lifestyle. Be ready for it. Be ready to say "this is important for me!"

6. Get support

You have the ability and skills to change and get started. But the one thing you may be missing at the moment is someone outside of your current scenario who can coach and help you. Someone that can step back and look at the bigger picture, ask you how things are working for you, and help you carve a better path to success for your current situation.

So find that person and keep them close!

I hope these 6 steps have given you some insight and you now have a stepping stone to get started on whichever nutrition or fitness goal is most important to you right now!
